Bicycle wheels go through their fair share of revolutions.
It’s something to do with time and space.
Specifically, we’re talking from 11am – 4pm on Saturday 6th May in Clerkenwell. See, that’s the time and space of Bourne & Hollingsworth’s latte-filled, popup-primed, and fashion flogging brand spanking new and completely free cycling festival: Cycle Revolution.
The first instalment in what’s to become a yearly celebration of the lifestyle of cycling, Cycle Revolution’s inaugural event will grace the green space that is Clerkenwell’s Spa Fields Park. There’ll be likeminded people, coffee and cocktails from B&H Buildings, street food from Crabbieshack, Deeney’s and La Ferme, wine tastings from Chapel Down, poetry slams, readings, Q&As with other cyclists and bike mechanics, and list of more than 21 pop-up shops and brands including Beara Beara, Vulpine, Pashley, Tokyo Bike, Brompton, British Standard and The Cycling Store.
It’s all been designed with basically everyone in mind. From those who ride for fun on weekends, to those who commute to work, amateur cyclists, and anyone simply interested in learning more about the culture surrounding the cycling boom. And it’s all happening right alongside The Tweed Run, another celebration of cycling that sees riders journey through London’s most historic streets in only their best tweeds.
Which means that if you’ve missed out on tickets to the latter Tweed Run, you can happily perch yourself atop a grassy knoll at Cycle Revolution and watch what the New York Times’ legendary street style photographer, Bill Cunningham, once noted was “re-inventing the catwalk” as it meanders into Spa Fields Park.
Or you can completely ignore them – there’s plenty to be preoccupied with.
