Flight Club Islington | Cocktails, Snacks & Hi-Tech Darts
Cocktail – check.
Sharp pointy missile – check.
A ridiculously good night out, even to the totally uninitiated darts players of London – bullseye.
Turns out, darts is not just for big, burly beer drinkers with a penchant for sovereign rings (which we suspect is a performance, rather than stylistic, decision that comes down to weight distribution). The brilliantly named Flight Club bars in London have taken this “old man boozer” sport, and elevated it. Flight Club Islington is no exception – in fact the interior alone, done up like a traditional pub with a fairground twist, is enough to get you going as you walk through the door. Throw in some darts (literally), good drinks and a pizza, and you’re in for a treat.
Located bang on Upper Street, Flight Club Islington is aimed at groups, with everything set up for sharing – from the pizza paddles to the platters and mini plates, with vegan, veggie and gluten free options available. To make things even easier, you can opt for one of the package deals – The Pro or the The Rookie – and enjoy a set menu of food and drinks for a very reasonable price per head. Let’s face it, no one wants to be arguing over a bill, especially when armed.
The drinks menu is extensive, with a wide range of beers, wines and spirits on offer, but the bespoke cocktails are a big hit, particularly the ‘Slushies’, a.k.a Slush Puppies for adults – delicious, and marginally less likely to turn your tongue radioactive.
And so to the main event: Flight Club has four dartboards, or ‘oches’, that you can book for you and your friends across two main spaces: The Parlour and The Mini Parlour. A bit like bowling, all player info and scores are logged on screens so you won’t have to rely on any mathematicians in the group; very handy when your brain inevitably turns to slushie.
When you’re not launching at the throwline, you and your friends can sit back and watch the action or enjoy Flight Club Islington’s weird and wonderful decor, including Poppy the carousel horse and a large mural called The Devil’s Mile, with a nod to the local area.
Just don’t have too many slushies, or you’ll find out why.
NOTE: Flight Club Islington is open daily. To find out more, and book a table or darts, head HERE.
