Pergola Paddington | Heated Winter Terrace in West London
Last Updated: 10th October 2019
Paddington’s canals have got a lot more going for them these days.
And here’s a spot you do want to touch with a bargepole.
It’s called Pergola Paddington, and it’s commandeered a leafy, two-storey, 850-capacity semi-outdoor space in the Paddington Basin development for street food and cocktails. And you.
Shielded from the industrial views around it, it’s a little oasis amidst the glossy offices and bustling transport lines. You’ll arrive to find yourself on the fairy-lit upstairs terrace, equipped with cosy daybeds (large enough for up to 15 people, and bookable in advance), benches and a very large bar, at which you’ll spy cocktails on tap, draught beers, wine and G&Ts.
Head downstairs, and you’ll find the pergola itself, festooned with fairylights, flowers and foliage and set with rows of long, communal tables. They’ve covered the terrace with a roof for the winter, and you’ll even find festive specials on offer at the four street food kiosks, which currently include:
Smash Patty, a spin-off from the Patty & Bun team serving Dexter beef patties sandwiched between a bespoke potato bread bun from Bread Ahead;
Temaki Bros, who aren’t really brothers but do make great temaki (sushi hand rolls);
An Choi, a new outfit from Salvation In Noodles’ Colin Tu, serving spicy wonton dumplings; and
Babek Brothers, serving kebabs alongside halloumi fries.
Behind their two lengthy bars, the ‘tenders will also be mixing up hot drinks like mulled wine, hot toddies and warming cocktails – with a 2-4-1 happy hour from 4-7pm.
So you’ll have less of a wine jacket…
…and more of a wine duvet.
NOTE: Pergola Paddington is open from Weds-Sun all winter. They take walk-ins, but you can make reservations (for up to 199 people) on their website right HERE. Please note that smaller groups will be put on a table with another group.
