Pergola Paddington Central | West London Street Food
They’re the perfect place to raise your eating & drinking game.
And now there’s one more spot to add to your roster of informal-yet-elegant sun traps to frequent as the weather begins to heat up, because this month sees the return of Pergola Paddington Central – once more commandeering a sprawling, canal-side, 850-capacity space for its aestival shenanigans.
Strung up with swathes of twinkly festoon lighting, Pergola Paddington sports more of a tropical vibe than its Italianate sibling Pergola on the Roof, with natural wood decking, copper lighting and miniature jungles proliferating over trellises and sprouting out of urban planters.
Upstairs you’ll find the sprawling roof deck, equipped with daybeds (large enough for up to 15 people, and bookable in advance), benches and a very large bar; while downstairs is the pergola itself (partially covered – because, you know, this is England). Under an abundance of hanging greenery you’ll find rows of communal tables and a set of more permanent homes for the clutch of resident food traders, who this year will include:
Patty & Bun, the stalwarts of the original Pergola pop ups, serving up their 35 day-aged Angus steak burgers sandwiched between pillowy brioche buns;
DF/Mexico, essentially a cross between an American diner and a Mexican food truck, serving dishes created by a former Masterchef winner;
Canard, serving confit duck in brioche burgers or slathered on fries with gravy and goat’s cheese curds; and
Mam, the Vietnamese BBQ restaurant from the Salvation In Noodles’ Colin Tu.
And of course there’ll be resident DJs and regular live music nights to see you through into the early hours…
If you really want to raise the roof.
NOTE: Pergola Paddington Central is open now, from Wed-Sun. You can make reservations (for up to 199 people) on their website right HERE.
