London just got a huge, dazzling, glitter-ball-filled, totally new, totally old skool roller disco, pop up rollerskating arena.
It’s a lot to rink about.
It’s called Rollerscape, and it’s all housed inside the Troubadour Theatre Wembley, where it’s warming up the place for the forthcoming Starlight Express show next summer (which is entirely performed on roller-skates, as all theatre shows really ought to be). And the space – which is bloody massive – is an absolute cathedral of sparkle & glitz, with a small constellation of disco balls suspended around a giant upside down Christmas tree.
Inside, it’s got winter-themed bars, food areas, and an ocean-sized rink. Outside, it’s got its own heated terrace with its own Alpine lodge and blazing fire pit, all adorned with twinkling festoon lighting & a small forest of Christmas trees. Here, you can toast your own marshmallows, then drown them with a mulled wine or some spiked hot chocolate. And if you do fancy something to eat, there’s an array of classic pizzas, hot dogs, and confit turkey leg burgers with brie, cranberry & sprout ‘slaw.
Aside from the regular skating (which takes place daily), they’ve also got a calendar of events lined up too, including DJ Lates, old fashioned roller discos, new fashioned Glo Discos, ’90s nights, an NYE shindig, and a lot more. And they’ll end it all with a nostalgia-laced closing party. And, as is our habit, we’ll end this article with a pun…
…it’s just how we roll.
PREVIOUS PERK: Nudge Members got a free skating session and 50% off drinks from 30th November to 21st December.
