We cannoli dream.
Until now, that is – because Cecconi’s Shoreditch has just unveiled its Sunday Feasts. Which, in short, is good news.
And which, in long, means that next time you’re ambling along Redchurch Street, perusing the independent boutiques and working up an appetite, you can duck in for a little aperitivo or two, bop your head to the live bossa nova band, and head downstairs into the kitchen to help yourself to food.
They’ve converted the pass in the kitchen to an overflowing buffet of dishes, from which you can freely pick and choose while the chefs bustle in the background to a soul/funk soundtrack. It’s an extravaganza – which is Italian for “a bottomless buffet of starters including arancini (risotto balls), salads, grilled aubergine and courgette, cured meats and cheese; mains including Sicilian-style pizza, at least four types of pasta dish, aubergine parmigiana; and (deep breath) – desserts including, but by no means limited to, cheesecake, tiramisù, sponge cakes, fresh berries, profiteroles with chocolate drizzling sauce and pancakes”.
And just in case this poses a potential conflict with your other Sunday plans – that is, brunch or a roast – they’re also serving those, too. There’s an entire shelf dedicated to Full English staples, from beans to eggs and sausages; as well as every possible type of roast – chicken, beef, pork and all the trimmings.
Which is handy, because you’ll probably need a little trimming after this.
NOTE: Sunday Feasts take place at Cecconi’s Shoreditch every Sunday between 12-5.30pm (with live music 1-4pm). The feast menu costs £25pp (not inc. drinks), and you can reserve a table HERE.
