The Nudge Talks | How Psychedelics Can Change The World
Some people think you’d need to be on drugs to think that being on drugs could help solve any of the world’s problems – let alone a great many of them.
Well, Alexander Beiner is not one of those people.
He’s something of an expert on psychedelics, and we’ll be discussing them, and their potentially huge benefits to society, as a follow up to our debut talk, which took place earlier this month. That particular event was in association with The School of Life, and we explored the topic of Love as a Skill. It went down quite well if we do modestly say ourselves – take a look for yourself here.
Before we dive into the mind-bending subject matter of the follow-up though, it might be a good idea to preface it all with a brief intro to just who Alexander Beiner – the man who’ll be leading the evening’s discussion – is. Well, he has carried out extensive research on psychedelics and contributed to a number of journals and major newsletters on how certain hallucinogenic substances can help us re-frame personal and social issues. His latest book, The Bigger Picture: How Psychedelics Can Help Us Make Sense of the World has been hailed as ’the most important book on psychedelics to come about in a long while‘ (David Jay Brown). He also acts as an Executive Director at Breaking Convention, a UK-based charity that hosts one of the globe’s most expansive gatherings dedicated to the exploration of psychedelic science.

Once again the evening will take place in the gorgeously verdant Peckham Arches, with its plant-strewn space, handily backed up by a cocktail bar. And as it happens, your ticket will include a complimentary cocktail upon arrival, so you can do a little mingling before the evening’s activities kick off in earnest. Then, Alexander will take the floor and take you on a journey through his latest book – you know the one that’s been raved about… He’ll part from mainstream discussion that centres on the mental health benefits of psychedelics and instead talk about how they can help us make sense of both ourselves and the world, and tackle social and global crises. And if all that just blows your mind, Alexander will be selling and signing his brilliant new book to Nudge Members at a specially discounted price.
