There’s a lot to love about Sundays.
The walks, the roasts, the casual flirtation with never leaving the couch again… and at Sunday Papers Live, they somehow manage to take all of those things and more and distil them down into a kind of serenely laid-back pop up utopia.
It sells out every single event, and it’s returning this June ready to transform the hauntingly beautiful Grade-1 listed church at One Marylebone into a vast living room filled with sink-right-in sofas, piles of oversized newspapers, fascinating speakers, live music, Bloody Marys, and a borderline reckless amount of tea & cake.
Oh, and Nudge Members? Are getting a complimentary Sunday Roast with their ticket, for both themselves and a lucky guest.
The next edition is taking place on June 16th, and as usual the place will be turned into a temple of triviality and relaxation. Massages are available all day. Slippers are encouraged. Napping is sacrosanct. You can bring a blanket, a pair of knitting needles, even a cat. If it’s Sunday-appropriate then it’s cool. So go ahead. Come in your pjs.
Throughout the day, you’ll then get an eclectic & lively mix of performers & speakers (writers, poets, politicians, journalists, comedians, etc.) taking the stage in the heart of the room to elucidate, enlighten, and thoroughly entertain. On top of that, there’ll be some top-shelf frivolity in the form of the ultimate pub quiz, some live music from the Sunday Papers Live house band, laid-back ‘Crafternoon’ sessions, and a glorious interactive crossword in which the clues are acted out charades-style.
As mentioned, there’ll also be the all-important roast. And that roast will be served up on a long table, banquet style, with allll the trimmings. And in true Sunday fashion, there are no set meal times, or reservations. Oh, and the drink of the day will be a Bloody Mary, courtesy of Bourne & Hollingsworth.
It honestly makes Monday look like it’s not even trying.
