Dalloway Terrace

Dalloway Terrace puts the blooms in Bloomsbury.

Named after Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway, it’s a gorgeous, flower-laden restaurant planted a stone’s throw away from the Bloomsbury Set’s old stomping ground.

In fact, the terrace is part of its own set, The Bloomsbury Hotel – which also houses The Coral Room and The Bloomsbury Club Bar. Like its housemates, it’s a beauty of a space. Hugging the outer wall of the hotel, Dalloway Terrace is a secret garden housed in a narrow sleeve; al fresco in summer and heated in winter, with temporary floor-to-ceiling windows to allow you to enjoy the view without shivering. Bentwood café chairs are set around marble tables and bench seating, but most striking of all is the canopy of blooms hanging overhead. The flowers are regularly changed to reflect the seasons, from cherry blossom in spring to berries and fairylit fir branches in winter.

Like its novel namesake, Dalloway Terrace is an all-day affair – you can kick things off with smoked salmon on Guinness bread, buttermilk pancakes or green shakshuka (with cocktails, of course), or wind down with grand brasserie dishes come evening. Dishes are plucked from across the globe and have an easy, crowd-pleasing joy to them – ribeye steaks, Thai Green curry, crispy confit duck and rigatoni with game ragù all make an appearance.

And as you’d expect from any lady of leisure, there’s a formidable afternoon tea to be had here too, with twists on the classics. Savouries include spring lamb sliders and smoked salmon on Guinness bread; while the highlight of the sweets is an elegant raspberry and pistachio opera cake.

You’ll Woolf it down.

NOTE: Dalloway Terrace is open all day, every day. You can find out more, and book, HERE.
