Brick Lane Jazz Festival 2024

If you’re a fan of both music and roads named after building materials, we have some good news for you.

The Cement Avenue Kazoo Fiesta Brick Lane Jazz Festival is coming to town 26th-28th April. And although they sell out every year, they’re holding a few highly discounted tickets back just for Nudge Members (+1), with 30% off the price.

The festival is now in its third year, and the organisers will be upping the tempo with performances slated to take place over three days (from Friday 26th – Sunday 28th April), at Village Underground, Rich Mix, and half a dozen live venues at the Truman Brewery that all share the same affection for new underground music, including Rough Trade East, 93 Feet East, Ninety One Living Room, Cafe 1001, Juju’s Bar & Stage, The Big Chill and Brick Lane Tap Room. It’s shaping up to be another musical feast for the ears.

The lineup will be bringing together close to 100 well-established and emerging artists, all of whom are currently making waves of their own in the world of improvised music. You can brief yourself with the full list here, but for headliners: on Friday, you’ve got award-winning singer-songwriter Ego Ella May; 90s-nostalgic RnB singer Ojerime, the rapidly rising electronic duo Plumm x skttrd; and Jazzbois, a brilliant jazz-hop trio from Budapest. On Saturday you can take in the cinematic landscapes of the Levitation Orchestra, nu-reggae rising star Summer Pearl, or the multi-genre fusion of headliner Oscar Jerome. And then on Sunday the finale will include BBC Young Jazz Musician finalist Luke Bacchus, USA-based trumpet player Theo Croker and the street-soul of Manchester’s Secret Night Gang.

There’ll be a Warm-Up Party at the ICA in the middle of town, headlining Spirit of Sundaze Ensemble, who likely need no introduction – but if you’d like one anyway, suffice to say they’ve created some of the most iconic dance parties of the current millennium. And after it all ends? You can make your way to their Official Afterparty at Village Underground with a lineup of London’s hottest DJs, of course.

Of course if you need a tune up before the gigs, The Truman Brewery – now an entertainment complex – is home to DF Tacos and Ely’s Yard, and of course there’s Brick Lane itself. For food, drink and…

…all that jazz.

NOTE: The Brick Lane Jazz Festival has now taken place.
