Ordinarily, there’s limited fun to be had at a drive-thru.

Yes you can drive through backwards. Or you can place a gigantic order, slip out of line and then watch from a safe distance as the person behind you tries to explain that those 17 bags of food aren’t his.

But beyond this, the drive-thru experience can be disappointingly dull.

With a 1229 “aroma emitter” hung inside your car, and to the soundtrack of a specially-composed Dom James CD, you’ll park in a darkened box underneath Selfridges before being enveloped by “walls of sound and light”, courtesy of Jason Bruges. Moving through louvered exit doors you’ll then be surrounded by the Baconators – a Tour De Force-clad troupe of rollergirls – who’ll take your order and direct you to the check out.

Technically you’ll need your own car for this.

However with the whole experience lasting around 3 minutes there’s no reason why “your own car” couldn’t, technically, be a taxi. Also, like every good drive-thru operator, Bompas & Parr are offering a sit-down dining option for the car-less, thanks to tables at their revolving restaurant overlooking the best of the action.

Harry Parr says, “The interaction of food, lighting and environment provides drivers and diners with a visceral and powerful experience”.

By which he means, “this is really weird, you should go”.
