Queen’s Park Book Festival 2023

Queen’s Park Book Festival 2023 | A Two Day Celebration of Literature with Over 50 Writers

Queen’s Park Book Festival.

No need to read between the lines there.

Held over the weekend of the 2nd-3rd September, this returning annual festival brings together bookworms for a good old celebration of literature in a 30-acre park. That park being Queen’s Park in North London, which will be turned into a village fete-esque green space with tents, talks and of course, loads of books (and is quite conveniently close to some lovely brunch spots, including Milk Beach and Carmel).

Queen's Park Book Festival 2023

For the 2023 edition, the organisers have done their best to fill the park with as many written word whizzes as they can, and they’ve done a very admirable job; with 25 events and over 50 writers on the agenda. At the top of the bill, you’ve got Sebastian Faulks kicking things off on Saturday, the best-selling author who’ll be going over his new book The Seventh Son with the Sunday Times’ Chief Fiction Critic Peter Kemp. Then on Sunday, to close the curtain, Zadie Smith will discuss her new novel The Fraud. In between, you’ve got Michel Roux, a Michelin-starred chef simultaneously making mouths water and giving pro French cooking tips by introducing his new book At Home – and he’ll be joined by The Guardian’s restaurant critic Jay Rayner.

Others include young Nigerian authors Ayòbámi Adébáyò and Stephen Buoro; poets Nick Laird and Matthew Hollis; award-winning children’s writer Christopher Edge and World Book Day illustrator Rob Biddulph, who drew the Dinosaur Junior picture book series; Andria Zafirakou, who’s just won the Global Teacher Prize (expect to learn a thing or two); and Elizabeth Fremantle, who you might recognise as the author of The Queen’s Gambit and The Poison Bed.

The big headline talks require tickets, with prices starting from £8, but there’ll also be a community tent showcasing local talent that’s completely free to enter. And in addition, you can also expect pop-up bookshops stocked with novels featured from across the festival and maybe even the odd signing by a participating author.

On the whole, it should be one for the books…
