In a city as heavily populated with rooftop bars as London, finding a terrace decked out with foliage, fairy lights and cocktails is not that surprising.
Finding it on top of a department store slap bang in the centre of town, however, is.
Yes, John Lewis has taken its uppermost level, er, up a level by sprucing it up with a couple of bars, a menu of sharing plates, and some stylish seating set amongst a forest of greenery (which explains where the ‘Willows’ part of the name comes from). There’s cosy tables for two; comfy sofas for bigger groups; twinkly igloos and heated chalet huts that you can privately book for you and up to eight friends.
There’s a couple of bars up here slinging seasonal drinks, courtesy of the Night Tales team. They include a handful of lagers on draught, wines by the glass, mulled cider & wine, and some quirky signature cocktails like the Orange Chocolate Bite, with rum, curaçao and chocolate liqueur. And on the food side, you’ll find a menu of dishes designed to share, like sticky burnt ends with guindilla chilli; sweet potato fritters with coconut & lime leaf dip; and a selection of Cobble Lane charcuterie, all cured up in N1.
And if you want to see all this for yourself? We’re throwing a party up there for Nudge Members on 22nd November, with two welcome drinks, free-flowing canapés all night, and a roaming jazz band serenading you with fun, Christmassy tunes.
Your move, House of Fraser.
