100 Shoreditch is located at 100 Shoreditch High Street.
And aside from making the postman’s life easier, it’s also something of an enviable location. It comes to us from the Lore Group whose other venues include the retro-chic Sea Containers down on the banks of the Thames. And here, they’ve taken full advantage of the sheer size of the space (left by its former resident, the Ace Hotel) by packing an impressive six bars & restaurants into the venue.
They’ve been unveiled one by one in staggered openings so far, and cutting the final ribbon, they’ve just added the cherry on top of it all: The Rooftop Bar.
This pink-hued drinkery is set along a long stretch across the front of the hotel, with a slanted roof sitting above a tile floor. The place is covered in green desert plants housed in rough terracotta pots, and if you step outside onto the terrace, you’ll see a beautiful panoramic view looking out over the city across to the west.
The tightly curated list of cocktails (coming in at just 9 drinks total) has a very warm-weather vibe, with plenty of fruit & bubbles – you can get a completely clear White Negroni made with gooseberry gin & Italicus liqueur; a Prosecco-loaded Watermelon Spritz; and two margaritas (one with lemongrass, one with jalapeño). And, if you fancy something a little more full-bodied? There’s the Old “Heyburn” Fashion, with chocolate bitters & caramel syrup to offset the bourbon.
There’s food too, in the form of light, drink-friendly bites. Although, you could probably make a reasonably sized meal from the likes of the soft shelled crab burgers with fennel & chilli coleslaw; the crispy fried chicken with sweet & sour glaze; the sticky jackfruit tacos with chilli & lime yoghurt; and the grilled king prawns with mango salsa.
There are no bookings, so if you fancy a table just turn up. And if you’re out of luck? Well, you won’t go thirsty – the bar downstairs (Seed Library) is run by the cocktail wizard that is Ryan Chetiyawardana, a.k.a. Mr. Lyan…
