Things To Do

The Descent

COLAB’s new immersive theatre space is hell on earth.

And we mean that as a huge compliment.

The talented crew behind Crooks, Hunted and Montagues and Capulets are christening the venue with a new show set in the dark, shrouded underworld of Greek mythology… just in time for Hallowe’en.

Spooky.

The Descent is set in the aftermath of the tragic Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. It’s your classic tale of boy meets girl; girl goes dancing in the forest and gets fatally bitten by a snake; boy ventures into the underworld to retrieve said girl by schmoozing Hades with his exceptional lyre skills. It’s all going fantastically to plan until Hades allows Eurydice to rejoin the land of the living on the one condition that Orpheus leads her up there without looking back.

Spoiler alert: he does not manage this.

Details of how COLAB are interpreting the myth are being closely guarded, though they’re leaning into the horror aspect with eery effects and a couple of jump scares. All we can say is that it’s going to be a) huge, and b) unnervingly atmospheric, incorporating stunning set design and sophisticated tech across multiple floors.

Over the course of an hour and a half you’ll not only witness the story unfolding right before your eyes, you’ll also have the power to influence the ending depending on the choices you make. And with just 20 audience members each night, you’re guaranteed to be at the front and centre of all the action.

Tickets are on sale now, and with so few places available, you’ll want to secure yours as soon as possible.

Trust us. You won’t look back.
