For street food fans, KERB’s latest market will feel like Christmas.
They’re calling it Season’s Eatings (clever, right?) and in the weeks leading up to the most wonderful time of the year (and the fortnight following), you’ll find London’s top street food traders, Christmassy drinks, and live DJs parked outside the National Theatre, decked head to toe in festive spirit.
As always, KERB has managed to enlist the services of some pretty appealing street food slingers for their festive market. For one, you’ve got Lily Lettuce (founder of STAKEhaus), who’s dipping into the world of melty cheese with the launch of her newest project CHEESEhaus, which is a stand ‘dedicated to molten raclette atop crisp and fluffy chips’. She’ll also be slinging a few delightful-sounding specials on the side as well, like hand-cut chips smothered with raclette cheese and further finessed with red wine gravy, caramelised onions and crispy onions.
Joining her for good company are Sen Noods with their minced pork, peanut-sauced Dan Dan noodles, steaming duck noodles and vegan ramen – while in The Understudy, you’ll also find Bad Boy Pizza Society (Sicilian pizzas), Mumbai Mix (veggie Indian eats) and Lucky’s Hot Chicken (Nashville hot chicken).
For sweet stuff, part one comes from Utter Waffle, who (as you might have guessed) will fix together two on-theme variations of waffle; the Christmas Crumble (spiced apple compote, salted caramel and shortbread crumble) and the Jaffa All the Way (orange marmalade, dark chocolate and a gingerbread crumb). Part two sees Chai Guys – who KERB have borrowed from Seven Dials Market – link up with Humble Crumble for a Chocolate Chai Crumble, adorned with mixed berries and a healthy portion of hot custard.
As it gets colder outside, you’ll likely need a few beverages to warm up and you’ll be able to get your mitts on those from the Season’s Eatings Bar, which promises chai from Chai Guys, a luxe hot chocolate and hot booze in the form of flasks of spiced mulled wine.
If you’re in the market for a bit of extra merriness…
NOTE: Season’s Eatings is taking place outside the National Theatre from 24th November – 8th January, Tues-Fri 5-11pm, Sat 12-11pm and Sun 12-9pm. You can book a table (!) and find out more on their website, here.
