We always had faith in 7 Saints.
After all, there’s some serious manpower behind it; owner James Gummer (previously maître d’ at The Wolseley) handles the wine and hospitality side, while Head Chef Adam Parker (previously at Brawn) takes care of the food.

Named after its address on All Saints Road (just behind Portobello Market), 7 Saints is a modestly sized restaurant seating just 20. It’s what you would call a ‘neighbourhood restaurant’. Not just because it’s in the lovely neighbourhood of Notting Hill, but its interior fixings of sage grey painted walls, vintage wooden chairs and upholstered banquettes are fairly warm on the atmosphere scale, and borderline romantic. If you want to up the intimacy stakes further, there’s also a 10-cover private dining room downstairs with an up-close view of the team chipping away in the kitchen.
That’s Parker’s cue to join the conversation, and here he’s designed a bistro-ish menu of 12 dishes that’s evenly split between four starters, four mains and four desserts. As he’s stickler for seasonal produce, 7 Saints’ menu is susceptible to weekly change, but generally you can expect modern European plates along the lines of rabbit ragu with parmesan gnocchi; potted shrimp on lardo toast; chargrilled plaice with smoked mash; crispy guinea fowl on a hearty bed of home-cured bacon and savoy cabbage; and a baked egg topped with autumn truffles and chanterelles (a type of edible woodland mushroom).

Moving onto the sweet stuff, desserts favour similar short-term stays, but the team love their tarts and there’s normally one on offer (cherry & almond, lemon with crème fraîche and salted chocolate with honeycomb have all made recent appearances). Regarding what’s going into your glass – wine normally comes out on top, and you’ve got the choice of playing it safe with classic old worlds or going rogue and opting for something a little different to the usual, including varieties from Lebanon and Romania.
If you do come back, there is one thing that you will see again: their whiskey and brown bread ice cream, a local legend that never leaves the menu.
It’s rather sinful.
NOTE: 7 Saints is open Wed-Sat. You can find out more, and make a booking at their website right HERE.
