– Wonderful Insiders’ Perk Available Here –
When Kettner’s first menu debuted in 1867, it included something strange, exotic, and irritatingly good.
150-ish years later, and the trend has just about caught on. And it’s in no small part thanks to the influence that the legendary and quite beautiful Soho venue has had, having fed people like Oscar Wilde, Winston Churchill, Agatha Christie, Robert De Niro, and literal kings & queens throughout its storied history. These days it’s owned by the Soho House group, but is still nevertheless open to all.
All of which means that, according to our understanding of basic logic, a century and a half from now the stuff that’s just landed on their brand spanking new ‘All-Day’ menu will be all the rage in holo-restaurants across the nation, and its moon bases.
You can expect starters & small bites like duck Scotch eggs with hollandaise; Devon crab with salted apple and lovage; and smoked leek gratin with tartare sauce. Or just some Carlingford Rock & Fin de Clair oysters, if that’s what you’re into.
Then, for the main courses, you can gorge yourself on the likes of a Brixham skate wing with brown butter & sea vegetables; some roast Banham chicken with black truffle and Pommes Anna; a hefty Lake District farmers’ fillet of beef with fries and sauce au poivre; or a whole roast Hispi cabbage with green sauce, lentils, and almonds.
All of which somehow seems to be both innovative and old-fashioned at the same time.
We’ll see in 150 years.
NOTE: Kettner’s new ‘All-Day’ menu is launching on the 12th of February 2019 (and some dishes may change between now and then). You can find out more, and book a a table at their website right HERE.
