The Seagrass

The Seagrass

The Seagrass | Islington Restaurant

At most London restaurants, BYOB’s a four letter word.

Which is disappointing, given that you’ve arrived to many of the best meals of your life with a case or two of your favourite wine under your arm…

Fully appreciative of this fact, and now residing for three nights per week throughout the summer in M.Manze, a 19th Century Eel & Pie shop in Islington’s Chapel Market, is The Seagrass.

Enveloped by Manze’s original white tiles, wooden pews, marble counters and soft lighting – in a place where pies and jellied eels have been served for the last century, and continue to be today – you can tuck into 3 courses of fresh British produce for £30.

And as much wine as you can carry.

The menu changes weekly, but all possibilities feature locally-sourced seafood, game from the Wild Game Company, and are likely to include: west-coast mussels; pan-fried sea bream fillet with citrus mash and shrimp butter; a half Scottish lobster; and venison haunch fillet with triple cooked chips and bearnaise.

NOTE: Aspiring chefs can also book into (or buy a gift voucher for) Head Chef Ian Sim’s seafood masterclasses, being helf throughout the summer, by emailing

ALSO NOTE: The Seagrass is open 7pm-11:30pm, Wednesday to Saturday. evenings only.
